Rhino Charge 2015

Rhino Charge is an annual event organized by The Rhino Ark Charitable Trust.It is held to raise funds for a very noble cause – conservation of Kenya’s Aberdare Ecosystem, fencing of Mt. Kenya and to start the Mau Eburu projects. The Copy Cat team participates in the event by manning a control check point/guard post. In addition to that, Copy Cat sponsors Car no. 14. This year, the 27th edition of Rhino Charge that was held at Kalepo (NamunyakConservancy), Samburu County was asuccess through the massive kind support from the army of volunteers and vital logistics support given by corporates and guard post sponsors. We, The Copy Cat team in this year’s fundraising managed to raise KSHS 1, 980,000. The money raised during this event will go towards Rhino Ark’s projects on Mt Kenya and Mau Eburu. Work on these two projects is well underway with 80 km of the Mt. Kenya electric fence already built and the 43 km perimeter fence around Mau Eburu completed. Camping fees totaling KES 4,190,145 million was raised from entry fees into the venue by all visitors. The funds will go to local conservation projects in Kalepo run by a local committee as well as to support the overall management of Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust. This represented a remarkable increase from last year’s host community of Kalama Conservancy’s KES 2.9 million camping fees.
